Our Mission

We exist to advance and strengthen participation in and continuity of Jewish life in Victoria.We do this by supporting eligible organisations and funding programs according to our current priorities and criteria.

Jayne Josem
Chief Executive Officer

Jayne Josem has spent two decades working in the not-for-profit sector of the Melbourne Jewish community as CEO and before that Head of Collections at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum. As CEO she oversaw the rebuilding and rebranding of the award-winning museum, a vital community asset. This role involved interacting with community stakeholders, bureaucrats, politicians and philanthropists to achieve its important mission.

Stephen Sharp
Chairperson

Stephen Sharp is a senior commercial partner with law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler. He is a former member of the Bialik School Council and has over 25 years' experience as a board member, and as Chair, of one of the nation’s best known and respected charities Make A Wish Australia. Stephen has a broad knowledge of the not-for-profit sector and the Melbourne Jewish community through his work and other activities.

Sydney Kahn
Treasurer

Sydney Kahn is a Chartered Accountant who has devoted almost 30 years actively engaged in supporting various Jewish organisations. He has been a board member and treasurer for JNF Australia, Central Shule Building and Finance Committee, Maccabi Australia and the Cranbourne Country Club. He brings a wealth of experience in financial and prudential management in the commercial world as well as in the not-for-profit sector.

Nicky Carp
Board Director

Nicky Carp spent 20 years as co-founder of UHG, a health-tech company. She now serves as a Non-Executive Director of Inspire Impact, chairs Flying Fox, and manages her Family Office, Prac3 Group, and the UHG Foundation. She is a former director of Stand Up. As an active member of the Jewish community, Nicky is dedicated to fostering its continuity and connection to Israel, while supporting a range of initiatives.

Nathan Cher
Board Director

Nathan Cher is a Tech Entrepreneur and Investor. Nathan has 35 years of corporate experience including Board and Chair positions on Private, Public and NFP Boards. Nathan serves (or previously served) on the Boards of the Australian Jewish Funders (AJF), the Jewish Education Foundation (JEF) and its Fee Assessment Board (FAB), The Orah Project, Mizrachi, and together with his wife, runs a Family Charitable Foundation.

Sandra Jacobs
Board Director

Sandra Jacobs is a philanthropic executive and social entrepreneur with a background in wealth management. Sandra’s executive roles have included CEO at the Self-Determination Fund and the Bennelong Foundation. Sandra transitioned to the philanthropic sector following 12 years at Morgan Stanley as a private wealth adviser. Sandra has and continues to contribute to the community through not-for-profit directorship roles, focusing on supporting women, children, education, employment, social cohesion, Jewish youth, and the arts.

Bradley Wein
Board Director

Bradley Wein is a lawyer and businessman. He is the current president of the Cranbourne Country Club and a former Governor and Vice President of Bialik College. Bradley has been a significant contributor to the Melbourne Jewish community for over thirty years and he brings a wealth of experience and passion to the Cranbourne Foundation.

Cranbourne Foundation Icon
The Cranbourne Foundation is a newly formed entity whose purpose is to support initiatives that strengthen participation in Jewish community life in Victoria. Established as a perpetual endowment fund, it will be operational later in 2025. The funds will come from the sale by the Cranbourne Country Club of its golf course property.
